Studies indicate that pygeum extracts antagonize the androgen receptor, and inhibit the proliferation of prostate cancer cells. A component of pygeum called triterpenes stimulate circulation through the region, supporting healthy prostate function. Clinical studies indicated that pygeum, especially when combined in combination with other botanicals, leads to significant improvement in urinary symptoms associated with BPH.
